" My name is Teasha. I have a very high pace high stress job. For about a year I kept seeing a friend on Facebook talk about her workouts and her trainer. And for years I have been unhappy with the way I felt health wise and the way I looked. So one day I finally asked the friend the question “Who is this trainer and what does she have you doing?” The friend began to explain TRX and Metabolic training to me, and it sounded pretty good. Because here’s the thing, I had gym memberships at some of the nicer gyms in town for many years and could not get a routine to save my life literally! So I go up one morning went to Finally Fit meet one of the nicest people I will ever meet in my life and watched the class. Now at first I wasn’t sure what to think, then I realized it was everything I would tell myself I needed that I was not getting from all my thousands of dollars wasted on big gym memberships. It was structured, educational and fun! Oh yeah and I was working my butt off! And I enjoyed it; I miss it when I go on vacation. "I came to Rebecca Grijalva at Finally Fit ABQ hoping that I could simply get into shape and workout with my husband following his return from an intensive 6 month boot camp. I didn’t think I had any time to commit to a gym since I work about 9-10 hours a day, and some weekends as well but I made it a point to at least try it out. Little did I know my life would be forever changed in the process and the chore of working out became a love for a new sport. I trained with Becca 4 days out of the week every morning conditioning and running different drills to slowly develop my muscle. When I first started at Finally Fit doing 5 pushups was a daunting task but after a few weeks I added 1 at a time and slowly but surely by the end of my 6 month training I was completing a full workout which included more than 30 pushups in each set. I never thought I could accomplish all that I did in my first 6 months and I thought my fitness endeavors would stop there. Rebecca saw more in me then I could see in myself and pushed me to the next level. She challenged me to compete in my first ever OCB Bikini Competition. I was extremely hesitant, and honestly didn’t ever think I could do it. I declined for almost 3 months until it finally hit me that this was the next step that I could take. I worked out every morning and had my specialized meal plan and diet tailored to my weekly and monthly measurements. When I wanted to give up, Rebecca pushed me to work harder. In the end I traveled to Mesa, Arizona and competed in my first ever OCB competition and placed 3rd in my group. I would have never started this journey if it was not for the efforts, motivation and strength that this gym provided me. I am eternally grateful to Rebecca for the incredible transformation I have made. I have lost 9.94 pounds of fat mass and gained 3.34 pounds of muscle mass and dropped 7.41% body fat. I now look forward to competing in future competitions and challenging myself with new and fun ways to work out. I no longer think of gym time as a chore but a lifestyle. Rebecca motivated me from the moment I stepped in the gym. There was never a question she couldn’t answer about my diet and my exercise plan, and I could not believe the results that I have received. "I have been training at Finally Fit with Rebecca since November of 2012. At first I was terrified. As someone overweight, the idea of hardcore exercise with fit people was scary! No one wants to feel inferior or judged. I was ready to make a change though! The anxiety quickly subsided when I met Rebecca. I can honestly say she has been one of the best people I've ever met. I first met Rebecca in 2009 at one of the local gyms. I was about six weeks out of having had foot surgery, and a two year run of orthopedic problems. Knee surgery in 2007 then a fractured tibia 2008, any way basically I had pretty much spent the time I when I wasn't at work sitting on the couch with my leg up thinking this would help the healing process. I finally decided I needed to start exercising because I was so overweight and actually very weak. One of the managers at the local gym suggested I train with Rebecca because she specialized in working with "older" women such as myself. So the first time I saw Rebecca come into the gym I saw this young very fit woman come in, I thought oh great she's never gonna want to work with me. I just figured trainers are for athletes right? I am so glad I was wrong Rebecca asked me what my goals were. I think at that time they were walk strait without pain.
Rebecca was so helpful and encouraging in every way. She actually worked with me more as a physical therapist, very small steps such as standing from and sitting on a bench, stepping up and down one step, with her literally holding my hands for support. After a few months I stopped going to the local gym, but Rebecca never stopped sending emails on nutrition and tips on getting healthy. Well April of 2011 I again decided I better lose weight and get healthy. I weighed 250 lbs and wobbled with pain from my hips to my feet when I walked. I asked Rebecca if she would train me again, she said absolutely. To this date I have lost 60lbs, miracle of all miracles I get up at 5:30 in the morning twice a week to train with Rebecca and go to her wonderful group summit class on Sunday mornings. I no longer need her to hold my hands to step up and down from one step. Honestly no more pain in my hips. Rebecca never made me feel bad about where I was with my weight and health. She has always been very encouraging and motivating. Rebecca is truly a answer to prayer and a God Send in my life. I have always been athletic and capable of doing physical activities, but working out with her is rewarding both to my physique as well as my confidence. Her ability to get to know my limits and keep expanding them through the years has been great! I never thought I could do the things I am capable of doing now!
