Training your inner athlete

Hey Life Changers!

Have you ever competed in a 5k? Maybe a 10k or 1/2 marathon?  Perhaps an obstacle race, like the Spartan Race? We did one in the past and wanted to invite our members to participate also.  So, we built a team of our Executive Athletes and competed in the Fort Carson Military Spartan Sprint in May!  We had a life changing experience and built relationships and friendships along the way.  Our Finally Fit team came in 218 out of 580 teams!  Our average time as a team was 2 hours 8 minutes.  Not bad for 6 people ranging from ages 32-47.  All of us are now FIRED UP to complete our Trifecta by next year!  Our Finally Fit Spartan team had their Customized Program designed specifically for that individual.  Sometimes they'll come to us a little beat up from their desk job and we need to change the programming for them.  We included their corrective exercise, mobility, stability, core training, strength and power, resistance and metabolic training in their custom programs to get the most bang for their buck and time.  We also had a Finally Fit team session once a week that focused on obstacles done throughout the Spartan Race:  Army crawls, tire flips, renegade crawls, rope pulls, and of course the beloved burpees!

So, what is an Executive Athlete?

  1. People who have been working out most of their lives.  They are reasonably fit but workouts are getting stale.  They may be looking for something new.  They may be needing new goals, new motivation or a new challenge.
  2. Former athletes or have formally been fit. They still see themselves as athletic and want to feel that way again.  They're not interested in circuit training/boot camps/bodybuilding or "going for a run." They want to do something athletic. To have that feeling again.
  3. The age range is 35-60 and want to feel younger.  When they do certain exercise they might say "this reminds me of an exercise I did when..."
  4. They often have desk jobs or are business owners and are looking to reminisce about the "Glory Days."  It's not necessarily the game they miss but everything else leading up to and after the gaem0 the comradery and the support system.
These are different goals from general fitness however, just like the majority of our clients, they are extremely time challenged. They might have 3 hours a week, at most, to train.  So we need to make their programs quick, effective, and FUN!

Do you see yourself as an Executive Athlete?
There is a Spartan Race scheduled for Albuquerque in 2015, come join our team!

Your coach,

Rebecca
