Awareness leads to change.
We prevent bad decisions before they happen, rather than feeling guilty for them after they’ve taken place. Here’s how a client explained her “Noticing and Naming” story: My biggest lesson has been the art of the pause or noticing and naming. I had been following my nutrition habits, eating well, working out. Then I went to the movie theater. Despite my pre-movie pep talk, I found myself in the concession line. Even as I was standing there, I kept repeating ‘You don’t want this, you don’t want this.’ Fast forward 20 minutes, and I’m eating the popcorn. I felt lousy, physically and mentally. And for the life of me, I couldn’t figure out what drove the entire experience. Chalk it up to habituated response. A few months later, I went to another movie. I had the same feelings of apprehension going into the theater. I told myself to just enjoy the smell of the popcorn in the lobby. Let it sink in. So I did. As I breathed the stuff in, I noticed a strange feeling in the pit of my belly. I can only describe it as the feeling of need — the need to be loved, the need to be comforted, the need to feel secure. Hmmm…all this from the smell of popcorn? By pausing and really noticing what was going on in my head, in my body and in my emotions I was able to see the need behind the need. I was able to sit with that weird mix of emotions and I was able to see clearly that this was a need that movie popcorn could truly never fulfill. Notice and name what cues tell you to eat today. Ask yourself: "Is this a need, a want, or a should?" "Is this signal, or noise?" Pay attention and observe what's happening. This is one of the lessons we’ll be exploring for the 4-week Nutrition Reset that begins tomorrow. Enrollment closes in just a few hours at 9pm. If now is not the time it’s not the time but if you want help becoming the healthiest version of you, you can find all the details and enroll here. I’ll be with you every step of the way. Hope to see you in the reset! Rebecca

Many people looking for change will want to jump immediately to a tailored program telling them what to eat and when.
Yet, in my experience, 98% of clients do not have solid fundamental skills. (Even if they say they “eat enough protein” or “eat lots of vegetables). It's sorta like an athlete who wants to go to the Olympics before mastering the basic movements in their sport. I want to emphasize: Clients must show and demonstrate that they can do the simple basics consistently first, before making their program more complicated. Unlike many other “diet plans”, my coaching isn’t a set of “rules” or a “one-size-fits-all” prescription. In fact, it’s not a prescription at all. It’s a set of principles about how and why nutritional choices work. Principles such as:
You know it takes time to build a fit body, improve health markers (such as bloodwork), and change body composition. Physical change can be frustratingly slow. Too slow, sometimes, for you to stay consistent and motivated when it seems like nothing is happening. However, practice happens daily. Skills can improve faster than bodies can change. Having a practice-based curriculum means you can focus your attention on what is improving right now: your process, your daily habits, and your skills.
A practice-based curriculum gives you the opportunity to win and feel satisfied every day Practice helps you discover what you really need, and to own your process of change. Want help becoming the healthiest version of you? Most people know that regular movement, eating well, sleep, and stress management are important for looking and feeling better. Yet they need help applying that knowledge in the context of their busy, sometimes stressful lives. It’s my goal to help those who want to go from stuck to sustainable, to eliminate their limits, to recommit to themselves, find and nourish their purpose. If you want to chat more about how to get unstuck, clear the overwhelm and on a road to balance and peace, I am here. If you’re interested in coaching, I am looking for a handful of ladies to join me to spring into a nutrition reset over the next 4 weeks. March is nutrition awareness month and I’m looking for a small group of women who want to be consistent with their nutrition, go from stuck to sustainable, and learn/implement mindful, moderate eating for good. I’m looking for those who want to quit starting and stopping programs all the time, and finally hunker down and figure out their forever-healthy approach for good – no more random diets or plans. Do you fit that criteria? If so, my 4-week Spring into Nutrition Reset starts Monday, March 8th. This course is for those of you who are looking to increase your results by stepping up your nutritional game! The online group will meet on Mondays at 4:30pm and each week I will go over a new lesson. Then the group will discuss our successes and our struggles, and provide support for one another. If you’re unable to make the call live, not to worry, everything will be recorded so you can catch the replay! There will also be a nutrition group members-only in Whatsapp (free download) where you will share recipes and ideas, motivate each other to stay on track, and keep each other accountable! At the end of the 4 weeks, you will have built sustainable habits that will help you maintain a healthier lifestyle and continue on your journey even after the 4-weeks are over! Who this is for?
I’m only looking for a handful of women who are ready to spring into this 4-week nutrition reset. Enrollment closes tonight at 9pm and we begin tomorrow, Monday, March 8th. Click here to enroll or message me if you have any questions, I'd be happy to jump on a call with you! Rebecca Everything worthwhile takes time and patience.
I’ve had to remind myself of this time and time again these last two years since I had to stop lifting and allow my body to heal. It seemed like an eternity! I was sooooo incredibly impatient. I wanted to get back to the way I was and keep up with my normal routine. I didn’t know how to slow down Yet, I was forced to slow down …and I couldn’t be more grateful. Today I left my Naprapathic doctor’s office and for the first time, I hadn’t had any flare ups since our last visit! I’ve done push-ups this week. I’ve added weight to my squats and deadlifts. And I've had zero flare ups. Massive win! …Time and patience. There is a powerful lesson in time, patience and consistency. All I could think about was the outcome. When would I ever be healed? As I read the most chronic cases, I would get overwhelmed thinking it could take up to three years to heal. What once seemed so far off yet here we are over 2 ½ years later and I’m on the other side of it. I’m reminded of this again as I work on building my strength and my physique back. I caught myself saying “ugh, I don’t want to start over. This is going to take forever.” Have you ever said that to yourself? There is something to be said when it comes to any goal we’re trying to reach. Focusing on the process, not the outcome. You can’t control the outcome. But you can control the behaviors that lead to the outcome you want. Outcomes are WHAT you want. But outcomes don't tell you what to do. Behaviors are HOW you'll get there. Behavior goals give you an action plan
And that’s what we’ll be working on during this Spring into Nutrition Reset that begins Monday. 4-weeks that will start with the essential step: changing the narrative you keep telling yourself. Creating a vision for your life How to eliminate your limits How to remove the road blocks that have held you back Why we keep self-sabotaging ourselves when it comes to our health and wellness Building a foundation of good habits for life. It’ll all get done with consistent effort, practice, and… …by slowing down Message me if you’re in or simple click here to enroll. Becs I’ve shared this before but worth sharing this great poem again that captures the change process:
Portia Nelson Chapter 1 I walk down the street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I fall in. I am lost. I am helpless. It isn’t my fault. It takes forever to find a way out. Chapter 2 I walk down the street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I pretend that I don’t see it. I fall in again. I can’t believe I am in this same place. But it isn’t my fault. It still takes a long time to get out. Chapter 3 I walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I see it is there. I still fall in. It’s a habit. But my eyes are open. I know where I am. It is my fault. I get out immediately. Chapter 4 I walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I walk around it. Chapter 5 I walk down another street. We all have that one bad habit we KNOW we shouldn’t be doing. Yet, we continue to do it. It’s an unconscious pattern that we have gotten ourselves into. Maybe it’s scrolling on social media for too long Playing a video game on the phone Grabbing that third handful of chips from the cupboard Grabbing that fourth cuppa coffee with loads of sugar and cream Talking to ourselves in a way that’s negative, worrisome, anxious or fearful Making yourself crazy for a week chasing a "100%" performance, then burning out and giving up. Here’s the thing, when it comes to changing a habit, getting in shape, eating better, creating a life you desire….there will always be roads to navigate. The process is never linear. What saddens me is those who have started and stopped so many times they’ve unconsciously conditioned themselves that it really won’t work. They wait for the perfect day. The perfect time. When things settle down, I’ll do it. Or something I heard a lot as a business owner, “I’ll start the program when I lose the weight first.” There is already a wall put up by those limiting beliefs that someone will commit to themselves for the long game. And that’s my message for today. Play the long-game. Keep showing up. Keep trying. Be patient. Progress, not perfection Remember that changing habits can be challenging. Here a 5 tips to help you along:
It’s my goal to help those who want to go from stuck to sustainable, to eliminate their limits, to recommit to themselves, find and nourish their purpose. If you want to chat more about how to get unstuck, clear the overwhelm and on a road to balance and peace, I am here. If you’re interested in coaching, join me for this 4-week journey, Spring into Nutrition Reset. You can find all the details here. The hardest part is taking that first step and I'll be with you every step of the way. Nourish your purpose now, Rebecca One of my mantras I like to live by is Keep Climbing, especially when it comes to changing those habits. It’s definitely a challenge but it’s important to think about how open you are right now to changing your mindset, habits, and routines.
There are no right or wrong answers. But it's important to know where you're starting out. How ready are you to change? Are you sick of the status quo? Or are your old routines still working pretty well for you? When you think of being ready for a change do you think “Too soon! Not ready yet!” or “Totally ready! Bring it on!!” How willing are you to change? Are you willing to just go with the flow, willing and open to guidance or do you hate being told what to do? How willing are you to trust the process and let change occur (or purposely challenge some of your existing ways of doing things)? Do you find yourself thinking “No change! I’m digging my heels in!” or “Change me! I’m putty in your hands!” How able are you to change? Sometimes we want and hope for change, but something is holding us back. What’s preventing you from changing right now — a crazy work schedule, having a new baby, an unsupportive environment, getting out of your own head? Do you feel like “Right now, I simply can’t change” or “I have all the tools and support I need?” As you think about and work on changing your habits, see if you can notice and name any resistance that pops up. You might choose to take some time to go to the gym or the health food store. Have you ever had these thoughts? But I’m too busy for that. I don't know how to make a healthy meal. What kinds of foods am I supposed to buy? How much of this am I supposed to eat? This is too complicated. This will never work. I don’t know what I’m doing, I don’t know my way around the gym. It’s too cold outside! It’s too hot outside! Aha! Resistance! Something is pushing back against your change. Don’t worry about “fixing” resistance. Just recognize it when it occurs. (It might even sneak up on you!) Price: $147 for the 4-week Spring into Nutrition Reset. Enrollment closes Sunday, March 7th 12:00pm and we begin Monday, March 8th. The hardest part is getting started. I'll be with you every step of the way! Nourish your purpose now, Rebecca In continuation of change I mentioned knowing your WHY.
Knowing yourself. Knowing what YOU need and want in order to get where YOU want to go. With this in mind, think about what experience do you have already? What is already in your “toolbox” to help get you started? Remember we have a tendency to over complicate things therefore, taking inventory of what we already CAN do will help ease into this change. For example: What experience do you have already?
This will help you see what you're working with and determine what else you need and want in order to move forward. Want help becoming the healthiest version of you?
